    Chinese are delicate, especially if it's too dry, but usually Stagmomantis are hardy. You probably have too much ventilation or airflow.

    Some species are difficult and bark mantids are hard to house. They often climb to lids, hang themselves from the back legs and die.

    If you do it right they don't eat the male. You give them space in a large screen cage and watch closely to separate if attack (you can be too late with one bite though). You can try night time intro but not sure how well that works.

    Most people use bits of screen or dried plant material. Live plants would be difficult.

    Welcome! Ghosts are a great choice. I'd suggest starting with a few older nymphs, the hatchlings might be a little tough the first time around.
