    Mantis Religiosa bad leg

I've found a mantis religiosa female (looks like a pre-sub) with a madly mismolted back right leg. I'm afraid that it will affect her future molts in the condition it is in, but I've never encountered this problem before. My question is: "Should I leave it be and hope It'll turn out fine, or...

    Drew's Mantis Logs

This is the thread where I will be maintaining a log of the lives of my mantids as they come and go. Apologies if I've placed this in the wrong subforum, feel free to move it. The first entry will be up momentarily.

    Returning

Some of you may remember me from my time spent here in the past, I'll be looking forward to catching up with you, and I'll be just as excited to meet any new faces. I was rather young when I was in the mantis game previously, but I'm back as a technical adult now, ready to keep some more little...

Gravid female about to lay, or about to die?

My friend has an adult female European mantis, whom he mated with an adult male he found outside. He states that she has been moving sluggishly for a few days, and showing absolutely no interest in food, even when pressed to her face. This female was caught as an adult, so her age isn't known...

    Food alternatives

Alright, so a lot of people are having trouble with what to feed their mantids when their fruit fly culture runs out, and I figured that I'd throw my two cents out there. 1st. Termites! Every mantid loves termites! Even those who only seems to go after flying insects, like Chaetas and ghosts...

    Elake

Ethan and I had a transaction, where I send him some books and he sends me two ootheca. I sent out my books, and he claims to have sent out the ootheca, but if that was the case, they should have arrived early last week. I am not yet claiming that he has scammed me, but if I don't receive my...

    Tadpole help

I collected some tadpoles from a puddle outside on a whim and I think they are Northern Leopard frog tadpoles. Can anybody give me tips or advice on how to keep them alive until I can release them into the wild as frogs?

    Help with B. mendica

I was reading DeShawn's caresheet on Blepharopsis mendica, and it said that this species required no misting whatsoever. I know they are from the middle east, but no misting at all seems a bit off. Any words of advice?

    Mismolted Sphodromantis

My male sphodromantis viridis molted to L5 last night, but his back legs got caught in the skin, and are practically useless and mangled. His front legs got a bit bent struggling to get his back legs out of the shed. So, he has misshapen front legs, and destroyed back legs. His raptorials are...

    Stagmomantis californica ootheca

I am getting a Stagmomantis californica ootheca that is scheduled to hatch soon. I can't seem to find anybody who knows how much they hatch out of each ootheca. Any insight?

    Popa Spurca are ugly. Apparently.

I was struck with an idea by a recent thread to translate all the latin names of mantids I knew. I tried Popa spurca crassa, and the translation was "The ugly, gross boy" I don't think Popas are ugly!

WTB Hierodula majuscula/grandis (D. dessicata as well)

Since nobody seems to have any Heterochaeta for sale, I thought I would default to Hierodula. Looking for a large species. Would also be interested in D. dessicata. PM me if you have any you would like to sell. Preferably nymphs.

    Winter Frustrations

Thursday night, my ghost molted into a sub adult. Here in Washington, it has been freezing for the past two weeks. All of the bugs died. Since he had just molted, he hadn't eaten for a few days and his abdomen is looking very thin. I went to the pet store and bought some crickets, but he seems...
