Color morph experiment in Phyllocrania paradoxa (Environmental trigger).

They were all in the tank with the female. I just cut the branch with the ooth on it and placed it in a small deli cup with a breathable lid. The tank is whatever room temp is, low to mid 70's and i mist once a day. I even tried placing one ooth in a tank that is a constant 60% humidity. Not...

Color morph experiment in Phyllocrania paradoxa (Environmental trigger).

Finally had a single nymph hatch, from the 2nd ooth laid. Still no activity from the 1st ooth other than that one dried nymph). I have 5 ooths total from this female. Do they usually hatch one by one , or all together? I've seen videos of them hatching together , so not sure whats going on.

Growing wild moss for enclosures, what do you guys think?

You have to be careful with locally collected moss. They might have harmful pests, like wolf spiders and centipedes. If it's temperate moss, it requires a "die-off" period. I assume this is to replicate the state of the moss during the winter months. A tropical moss would be better suited. A...

Color morph experiment in Phyllocrania paradoxa (Environmental trigger).

The first clutch started to hatch. But i fear i was away for a few days traveling for work and the container remained a bit dry. There were 2 nymphs that emerged, but were dried and partially stuck to the ooth. I now have it misted lightly 2x a day to try to keep any others that hatch from...

What percentage? "Always" is a very exact statement, as in 100%. (all the time; continuously; uninterruptedly)

Color morph experiment in Phyllocrania paradoxa (Environmental trigger).

I did a pretty intense search of the forum before making this thread and didn't find anything to prove or disprove this experiment. Maybe i missed something in the filters. I'd be interested in reading any publishings about this in Ghost Mantis. Because curiosity usually gets the best of me...

I'm not sure. But ghost mantis seem to be earth toned. (brown-green). Not sure if pink foliage will make a difference.

Color morph experiment in Phyllocrania paradoxa (Environmental trigger).

Which one? They are both regular 10g aquarium converted to a vertical orientation . And planted with some Ficus I got cheap at HomeDepot and sticks and twigs I collected locally . This is the build thread. http://mantidforum.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=34493 The "green " one is one of a few...

Color morph experiment in Phyllocrania paradoxa (Environmental trigger).

Ahh . Interesting . Well these are 10g verts . I assume I can keep about 5-7 nymphs in each to adult molt. You make a good point about the sexes . Maybe I'll just do this experiment with just males , since females tend to go green more frequently regardless . I just got my GoProHERO4Silver , so...

Forum wouldn't let me post pix of the tanks . So I made a video :-)

Color morph experiment in Phyllocrania paradoxa (Environmental trigger).

I've searched the forum for a similar experiment with zero results (a lot of F/S adds though, lol). Well I get bored and I have the tanks and my female Ghost is on her 3rd ooth, so there is no shortage there . So why not, rite? I don't know much about this, I'm just going by observation. My...

    Terrarium Build.

I use ABG (Atlanta Botanical Garden) mix, mainly because I use it in all my poison dart frog tanks and had some extra. It had ingredients to hold moisture well and others that allow it to drain well. So it never gets saturated and you can mist more . But I assume any soil that doesn't contain...

Time Lapse of my female Ghost Mantis (Phyllocrania paradoxa) laying an ooth. Enjoy

Quick question. How long does it take for Ghost eggs to hatch? I currently have 3 ooths in the tank with the female and I'm trying to avoid chopping the live plant in there to pieces until she's laid as many as she can before the first ooth hatches . I've tagged them with the dates they were...

Time Lapse of my female Ghost Mantis (Phyllocrania paradoxa) laying an ooth. Enjoy

Thanks. This is the build thread on this tank. I've learned a lot about their habits and behavior . The bottom portion of the tank will be dryer and have more dead, curled up leaves . She stays there mostly , blending in . I've noticed the day before (or the same day she is about to lay). She...

    Terrarium Build.

What type of Mantis are you trying to keep? I think the main issue would be humidity. Some plants more/less humidity than others to become established. I can get you a plant list of terrarium suitable plants. I find that Home Depot has a pretty good selection of plants to choose from that will...
