    Best time to get ooths?

Hi, everyone! I've been gone for a little under a year now. A lot of you probably don't remember me, but I want to try my hand with a second batch of mantids. I was wonder when a good time to buy an ooth would be. I'm looking at T. Sinensis again, but I'm willing to try other species. I know...

    Bent and darkening abdomen

After looking at my mantis, I noticed he was laying on the ground of his enclosure, but after nudging him, I noticed his abdomen was folded at almost a right angle on the last three segments. It's also slightly darker than the rest of his abdomen. I'm afraid that he may have mismolted or somehow...

    L5!

He's finally reached L5, which means I can put the mealworms that have been living in my fridge for months to good use.

    Breeding T. Sinensis?

My male T. Sinensis is preparing for his molt to L5, so I wanted to be informed before his molt to adult. First off, I was wondering how long after his final molt I should wait before breeding him. Second, how long can I expect him to live post-molt and post-mate? Third, when I get his mate...

    Fruit Fly Culture Expiration Date?

What happens when a culture goes past its expiration date? Mine is still producing flies and I don't want to have to throw out a perfectly good culture.

    Silverfish

I'm curious about silverfish as feeders. They're abundant where I live and they have a fairly long lifespan, not to mention they'll eat just about anything you throw at them.

    Sad Day.

I've been really excited because one of my mantids was nearly ready for a molt! I just checked on it, and it had molted as I had suspected, but it was in the corner of the enclosure on the ground. That leaves me with only one T. Sinensis, and I don't even know if that one will make it. I'm...

    Gongylus gongylodes

Anyone have experience with Gongylus gongylodes? These are probably the nicest looking mantids I've ever seen!

    Little Acrobats

I'm watching the last two mantids in the brood molt to L2 as we speak. It's amazing how they support themselves while they hang. One is hanging by the rear legs and twisting to break its exoskeleton. They're daredevils.

    Mantis won't eat.

One of my mantids is starving to death. The same one whose claws were broken previously. The claws have since healed enough to use and the it's nearly time for a molt, but it won't eat. I've tried fruit flies, decapitated mealworms, cat food, everything. The only way it will eat is if I smear...

    Crippled Nymph!

This is my first time raising mantids and I messed up. I hatched a Chinese Mantis Ooth in late January and I'm keeping 6 nymphs, all of which haven't molted. While I was misting their enclosures one of the nymphs tried to escape and I accidentally dropped the lid on it because I didn't see it...
