Hangs All The Time (Female Chinese Mantis)

You aren't doing anything wrong, it is very normal for them to hang like this. I had a very similar cage lid and both my female Chinese Mantids hung off of the roof nonstop all their lives. Although there are sticks in the cage, they seem to prefer to hang from the top. They developed no...

Sphodromantis lineola (Maude) enjoying a fly

Green is hard to get in some species. All eight of my Chinese mantids were brown! Except one that was somewhere in between for two instars. Your mantis is beautiful in both colors, I love the forearms on Lineolas!

How do I safely store oothecae in the fridge?

I was wondering how I could store oothecae in the fridge without them drying out. I had some last year that seemed to have dried out and died in the fridge. They were Chinese mantids, as are the ones I am trying to store this winter. I would leave them outside but the winters are too cold for...

How long after mating can the male be mated again?

I have two female Chinese Mantids (Tenodera sinensis) and one male. The male mated with one female but I wasn't sure how long I should wait between matings. I have been feeding the male to help him recharge but not sure on how long he needs.
