just recently started keeping spiny flower mantids ben really enjoying them and id love to breed them when their ready just wondering how you all do it and how you get the ootheca to hatch thanks any advice is welcome i’m in experienced but willing to learn :)

This is a hard species to breed because the female is extremely aggressive. I would start with something easier first to get the hang of breeding mantises. But you can still try you never know. After the female becomes an adult you need to keep her well fed and warm for a few weeks before she becomes mature same goes for the male. After that you should be able to introduce them but make sure the female is eating and you can put the male behind her and see if he shows any interest. If they are both ready he should hop on her and after a little while if she is receptive he will connect to her for hours and after he’s done he will disconnect from her and flee. You will need to make sure she isn’t showing any sign of aggression if she is that means she’s not mature enough and isn’t ready to mate. Remove the male immediately and try again another day.
