How long after copulation can you use the male again to mate a different female? How long does it take him to rejuvinate an adequate and viable sperm supply after a successful mating? I want to make sure he's not stressed or shooting blanks, but I'd also like to get the most out of his services that I can before he dies. My only other male just died today. Although I've already mated all my 7 females at least once with either of the two males, I'd like to keep passing the only remaining one around the ladies as much as possible. Oh, the species is Carolina. Thanks.
PS... My remaining male and one of my females were mating since yesterday, and they seperated today. I went to remove the male from the cage, but decided to go get a paper towel to clean out his cage first while he was out of it. When I came back they were locked together, but not in a mating pose... she had him by one of his raptorial forelegs and must have damaged it before I could separate and rescue him. He's alive and seems fine except he's not using his left front leg to climb. Will this endanger him more if I continue using him to mate? I'm also wondering if he'll be able to catch his food OK. I can help with that though if needed. Just wondering what others have learned if they've had this experience. Thanks.
