Other than the Luna Moth, I also breed 2 other species of Saturniids, the Hickory Horned Devil Moth and the Cecropia Moth (will be posting pics of these soon). For now, here a little "diary" of whats been going on lately with my Hickory Horned Devils. :)

Note: The caterpillars of this species get HUGE. They grow to about the length of a hot dog, and become thicker too!!

1st instar caterpillars. When they hatch, they are already about 1/2" long!

I will be selling caterpillars very soon. :) (they feed on sweet gum also)

Outstanding!! B) Very bright and beautiful colors :D . I hear they also eat sycamore leaves. Have you tried them on those leaves? If they do eat them very well, I may have to get some caterpillars from you ;) . I have a huge abundance of sycamore trees around my house.

I'll see if they take to sycamore. :)

Do you sell them or release them?
Both. I sell what I can first, then I release the extras (I always have lots of extras)

 Wow! Very beautiful species, AB!! Congrats on breeding them. ;)
Thanks! These are supposed to be a little harder to rear than Lunas, but I have found only to be a little bit more difficult (mainly because they eat a LOT when in their final instar) ;)

I continue to have 15 or so hatch every day, I have close to 100.

The oldest caterpillars have been shedding to 2nd instar over the past few days, I will be selling as soon as I get extra 2nd instars. :)
