I believe this is an L1 nymph. I don't know much about them and never saw one eat before. I just threw in some Hydei and it hunts them down. Spears prey with its beak and drinks the liquified internals.

*SLURP!*

Great pics, can those bugs penetrate human skin?
Yes, and it's supposed to be very painful.

...

The bug plunges its beak into its victim, pinning its prey with its front legs. It then injects enzymes into the victim, paralyzing it and dissolving its insides, and proceeds to drain all of the victim's bodily fluids. The bite of a wheel bug is painful and may take months to heal (sometimes leaving a small scar), so caution is advised when handling them.

My goodness... that is epic! I wish we had them here!

I cuaght one last year (thinking it might be food) and tossed a moth twice it's size in the same container, and kept hunting. I had taken maybe 10 steps, looked down, and it had already subdued the moth and was - yuck - drrrrrinking it's blooood!

None of my mantids wanted anything to do with it.

I just ran around screaming while I brushed at myself. I seem to have that reaction when I see those. where there is 1 there are usually more.

Between your noisy cricket legs, pleco lips, and screaming habit you must be a joy to live with.

But at least your teeth are clean. :tooth:

 Now everyone knows about my pleco lips!

I swear it is the antibiotics. :innocent:

There is no experience, like my first online flogging. :pinch: Not that I am serious, but hardly anyone knows what its all about.

The Wheelbug nymph is really cool, even if i am a little wary of them. When I have seen them feeding in the wild, they usually have something bigger than themselves.

I can't seem to stay away from that editor.
