Carniolan Nucleus Hive March 2013

Our first honey bee colony. We brought home a Carniolan nucleus. This is the entrance of their temporary home.
The brownness that you see on the board is cinnamon. The ants in the area got very excited when they stumbled across a sweet smelling food source. The ants don't like cinnamon, but the honey bees don't seem to mind it. The whole area smelled like a cinnamon roll!
