Gor-Tok, Tenodera angustipennis, L4

Here you can see the dot. It is too dark to be the same yellow of the sinensis, which is quite a dull yellow. It's a bit harder to tell that the dot is dark because of the green color surrounding it - not much of a contrast in colors.Sinensis spot on chest: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/com

Tenodera sinensis have a darker yellow spot than in the picture you posted.https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ee/Tenodera_sinensis_yellow_spot.JPG

In real life the Tenodera sinensis have a yellow spot like this picture of your Tenodera sinensis. Are you sure yours is a T. angustipennis? The orange spot of T. angustipennis is usually bright orange in pictures.
The photo I posted was a photo of a T. sinensis so it can't be darker. I also had a T. sinensis who's yellow was that dull color. I'm definitely sure it's not the T. sinensis, they have different sized oothecae.

Ah, great the ootheca that mantis laid look like a Tenodera angustipennis? I took the picture of Tenodera sinensis you posted and the adult female had darker yellow. Interesting that you had a Tenodera sinensis with a dull yellow.

Yeah here's the ootheca of the T. sinensis I hatched: http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/282/5/9/tenodera_sinensis_ootheca_hatching_by_alexandersmantids-d5hbjqi.jpg

And here's one of the two oothecae of the T. angustipennis I hatched: http://alexandersmantids.deviantart.com/art/Stagmomantis-carolina-or-Tenodera-angustipennis-364216554?q=gallery%3Aalexandersmantids%2F39976169&qo=83

Big difference in size!

That is a angustipennis. Is the T. angustipennis nymph's orange spot more orange than in the picture? Tenodera sinensis nymphs yellow spot are just a little bit more pale than this T. angustipennis in this picture.

Well in the photo she's only an L4 and she hadn't fully hardened/darkened yet after the molt. But the color looks yellow-orange at this point. More than yellow, but not quite orange, yet. Though against the brown T. angustipennis I have, it looks more orange, I think because the colors contrast.
