    Momo was dying

    So I just looked at Momo's enclosure and he was on his back on the bottom. He must've fallen. It seemed like he's been getting weaker over the last couple days. His abdomen kept hanging out on the side when he was in his enclosure and he's been having trouble sticking to the enclosure itself...

    Adulthood

    Thank you for your helpful advice! Unfortunately, I don't have a female. But I can order some flies. Thanks again!

    Adulthood

    Hi, I was wondering do mantids become worse hunters when they become adults? I know they don't eat as much, especially as adult males, which momo happens to be.  I'm cutting mealworms in half sometimes and putting them up to Momo's mouth and he'll only eat a little bit and then start grooming...

    More throw up?

    Oh. I mean they're all from the same batch and brand. Maybe I should just throw it out and hope that the next batch doesn't have that effect on him? I gave him honey a couple days ago but I can do more. I also just cleaned his enclosure out thoroughly, so hopefully that did something too.

    More throw up?

    That's exactly what I want to know. I give Momo that much because he's an adult male and really won't eat much- he usually drops the mealworm half way through, can't even finish the whole thing. So, why is he throwing up then? I don't think it's his poop...

    More throw up?

    Hi everyone, I've been feeding momo only a single or half mealworm every week. I've noticed some black specks on the netting and clear side of his enclosure that seems like throw up. Momo is acting fine above all else but I'm wondering why is he throwing up a little every time I feed him? I...

    easy --> hardest

    @Arthroverts I wonder why APHIS has so many regulations. I wonder what they think people are trying to do exactly once they obtain these insects. I understand worrying about infestations due to releasing and overpopulating a species (especially non native)- but most of us are just trying out...

    easy --> hardest

    I'm also interested in the legalities of selling and buying various insects. Would you say the lack of enforcement is how most sellers continue with their businesses, even though they know their activity can be traced online? Additionally, do you think that the loophole is the state/region...

    Adult mantis bored of food?

    I did end up crushing the head of the mealworm and Momo responded to eating it but wouldn't hold on to it. Eventually my partner got Momo to hold onto the mealworm while Momo was on my hand. I wanted to put Momo down so I put them on the plant and they just kinda stood there awkwardly and...

    Adult mantis bored of food?

    Like they're sick? I really hope not, they act pretty normal

    Adult mantis bored of food?

    Brutal but it would stop the hectic squirming. I'll try that tomorrow if Momo still refuses.

    Adult mantis bored of food?

    I don't know for sure but I think Momo is male. I still have some smaller meal worms but they don't respond to those when I put them in front of Momo. My feeding technique is a little awkward rn w the mealworms. I have (small/regular size) tweezers but the mealworms squirm so much they usually...

    Adult mantis bored of food?

    Hey y'all Momo's been enjoying their adult life so far so well. I know adult mantis's don't eat so much too. However, Momo doesn't seem to like the food I have for them? I ran out of silkworms/silk moths a while back. Now I only have mealworms and roaches which they seem to have next to no...

    Hatched silk moth!!!

    @Acro thank you so much for your help!  Tbh, raising silkworms has been challenging for me but very cool to watch the transformation! Also, update! My first moth couple just had babies! Lil yellow eggs are just on top of one the cacoons they were mating near. I have yet to look up how to take...

    Hatched silk moth!!!

    Hi everyone! I'm very excited as my first silk moth hatched sometime this morning. I don't really know what to do with it at this moment, as I wasn't even sure if any of them would make it this far. I'm having an even harder time finding out how to take care of this one silk moth I have so far...
