    Green Bottle "Blow" Fly Culturing

No matter how softly you move your hand, if you move your fingers fast your gonna squash the pupae. I am gonna try to raise flies and breed them on milk and paper towels with a couple additives. What's the best thing to feed maggots after they have hatched?  I am thinking some high...

    Hello...fun with feeders

My flies are looking sad though Serle, because of the holidays I had to resort to using Coffee filters for substrate in the cups. :D  Look at their fat belly's on my Enriched formula!

    My first ootheca

It is also just sprayed because the coco fiber was awful dry.  I don't often mist that way.

    My first ootheca

Here is my first ootheca.  As someone pointed out in a different post it is labeled incorrectly and Chinese Mantis is not "Praying". However, in the locality in which I live, we have always referred to them as Praying Mantises and they are Chinese Mantises. I pulled it from refrigeration on...

Hi Rotta and Welcome, It's funny where dreams can lead us isn't it?  I fell victim to a baby nymph mantis and fell in love with 6 of them and fell for the hobby hook, line and sinker... J (thats a hook!)

    Hello...fun with feeders

I have as much fun with feeders as I do with mantids.... Can't wait for my ootheca to hatch, but I keep wanting to pile up different genetic variants of my fruit flies for fun. Here is a cup with some special E1 media I made at 21 days.  Larvae everywhere.

Very humid from slight overmist.  Cocofiber was kind of dry.

Fell in love with the species.  Now I have an ootheca sitting on the table next to me. I just love all the technical information.    Randy Sidor www.mantisguy.com
