Have always had such a fascination with these animals. Their intelligence, their alien, other worldly appearances, their apex predator status.
I work as a legal cannabis cultivator on a farm, and have been seeing mantids all summer long when it dawned on me. I’ve spent years fascinated by them, and look forward to seeing them every summer…why not raise some?
I have experience with bio active vivariums, and will be setting one up when the enclosure arrives tomorrow. I plan on setting up two enclosures.
One for Phyllocrania paradoxa
One for Stagmomantis carolina
Video is a male European eating a grasshopper
Picture is a female European caught from the same greenhouse. Pairing them tomorrow after a few days of feeding.
