My set up is a bio active terrarium with a substrate of lava rock, filter fabric on top of that, ABG mix soil and magnolia leaves, I plan to put moss and cork bark down as well. Cost is a major concern and this set up will be my daughters entire Christmas present (maybe for a couple years)

I’m looking for advice of what to buy and the best place to buy the following: Deli cups, Giant Asian, ghost, Isopods, Springtails, wingless fruit flys and/or other food ideas and plants (plants must be able to hold the weight of a giant mantis).. I’m going to partition the terrarium so I can have more than one mantis (the dividers are not see through). The mantis will be in deli cups until larger then I will move to the terrarium if big enough. If you have any deco ideas for deli cups I’d also appreciate that.

I guess everyone is on Christmas break, lol! Springtails are not for your mantis to eat as they are more of a clean up crew, they like to eat any mold, icky stuff, mantis poop! What size of deli cup are you thinking? I’d suggest pothos plants, they’re incredibly easy to propagate and have beautiful sturdy leaves. For decor, I’d suggest sticks that have been sanitized (you can PM me on that one if needed). I think it’s wonderful you’re taking such great care in ensuring you & your daughters mantis will be well taken care of.
