I assume your mantis was just fine after that? Did it stop completely or come back every once in a while?

I offered water today and he was thirstier than yesterday, but he is still alert. We also got our heating pad set up and his tank is a steady 75F now. I have no idea what the splattering is from. But there is more in his tank as of this morning.  

I forgot to mention I shined a light on him and his face was moist even though all the visible splatter was dry.

Hello! I'm new as well. I've been trying to absorb information for months now but this forum has made me more confident. The people here are friendly and very responsive! You can find a lot of good tutorials and caresheets on here as well.

I just purchased a seedling mat with a thermostat controller. I was planning on setting it under the glass terrarium and trying to keep it at about 75 F for my religiosa. Is that safe or too high? The house is generally 73-70 F in the summer and as low as 64 F in the winter.

Is there any concern for how high the ooth is from the ground? I have a couple butterfly mesh cages I want to put some ooths in but I'd be concerned with just how tall the cage is, if I have the ooth attached to the top.

He just finished eating. Ooof. Look at that stuffed gut. Yes the bulging was what I was worried about but once he got more full I realized it was just expanded.

The best way I can describe it is when you unzip a suitcase's overflow zipper. It's got the indentation along the side seam. I wasn't sure if it was a split in his exoskeleton or just stretched/normal.

What about a cleaner designed for tanks used by reptiles? I'll use  the distilled water as I have that for my cat's water fountain. The hard water would ruin the motor otherwise.
