    Native Species to WA, USA

I find it kind of weird they're supposedly all around, yet I still have yet to see European mantids in my immediate area. Further out yes, but here no.. but our climate is a tad different right in this particular spot, maybe they don't like it so wet+cold+windy.

    Native Species to WA, USA

Today I was talking to a friend of our family and he showed me a couple of pictures of a mantis he saw in Corvallis (which is in Oregon but about a 2 hour drive from where I am+slightly different in climate etc.). The mantis looks to me to be a European, so we can add that to the list of...

I personally don't, not here anyways.

    Native Species to WA, USA

I have only seen Chinese outside here, as I stated multiple times. Twas my friend who saw a Californica and by the Deschutes river, which isn't in my immediate area but close enough. It is very grassy and fairly moist here thru most of the year, I'm only 15 minutes car ride away from the...

    Native Species to WA, USA

I put the question on my FB to all my Oregon friends, if they've ever seen a mantis in the general area that wasn't Chinese. So far I've only had one friend reply with one sighting and he has seen one Californica mantis (I sent him pix and asked him to choose the one that matched) near the...

    Native Species to WA, USA

I originally thought limbata but previous commenters in thread said they don't come this far -_-" and while I have my hobby critters I don't have much experience with wild mantids so I was trying to gather intel here (this thread+forum as so far this is the most comprehensive group of mantis...

    Native Species to WA, USA

Yes, that article. +in my area yes, lots of Chinese; we're on the edge where civilization starts to end and farms begin to start. +Even the dedicated caresheet on Californica on this forum says they may range as far as Oregon. If anyone has any solid info on a more native species here I'd love...

    Native Species to WA, USA

I actually found an article by OSU that states Californica are found in Oregon (they also mention Chinese, but obviously I don't want to encourage their numbers). I gather from various sources that Limbata seem to be sneaking in and I suppose it wouldn't be terribly unnatural to release them...

    WTB Stagmomantis Californica

Currently interested in buying a fertile ooth (or nymphs/adults if that is all that is available, but I prefer ooths) of Stagmomantis Californica.  I am in Portland/Gresham area of Oregon, US. Please pm me info+pricing.

Also seems litaneutria like dry areas.. around here it is pretty constantly wet.

    Native Species to WA, USA

I had seen some info regarding limbata ranging as far as Oregon but as discussed in prior comments forum peoples are saying they shouldn't be ranging this far (+I trust dedicated mantis people over various sources online), so to be safe I'm not releasing limbata. Haven't seen any info regarding...

    Native Species to WA, USA

Not too arid here. I'll just have to cross my fingers and hope someone someday sells a stagmomantis californica ooth that I can hatch+raise, as that seems to be the only species everyone agrees could/should easily be in Oregon.

    If I knew I wouldn't be asking.

    Native Species to WA, USA

I am personally in Gresham, OR. Again haven't seen any in my area except Chinese mantids so would need to find a native species from a breeder+raise to release outside to bring back their numbers.

    Native Species to WA, USA

(I have not found any native species in my area from which to collect; just Chinese that people release)

    Native Species to WA, USA

Fine by me. Mine haven't hatched yet anyways, I'll just have them join the club as hobby mantids, which I don't release. Again I'd just come across some info saying their range occasionally came this far. So does anyone happen to know anybody raising native Stagmomantis Californica, or any other...

    Native Species to WA, USA

Anyone's opinion on Stagmomantis Limbata? I know they're more Arizona and California but from what I gather they get around in the West.. I'm in Oregon and am trying to hatch some, originally wanted Stagmomantis Californica but haven't gotten my paws on any yet. They sell Chinese in the feed...
