    If I remember right you are allowed to send feeder insects However your average Royal Mail worker probably couldnt care less I don't mark my parcels with anything except the address and only if exporting have I been asked anything and thats because there were forms to fill in

    Why not to use latin?

    I prefer latin, although even that isn't always reliable I've been told of people inventing latin names! For some reason names are so much more complex with inverts than with other animals, with repltiles for example most people use common names as they almost always refer to one species...

    you can get this in the UK but you would have to be pretty fluent in German, I can cope with the basics but thats about it I'm sure I saw a copy at last years Kettering Show

    Pachnoda sinuata flaviventris

    Ah, thats really what I wanted to see, colouration. My species that i went sent as P.flaviventris had a yellow underside, P.S.calceata had a red underside. This was the only easy way to tell them apart as they were virtually identical from above. This is beginning to really confuse me now

    can u post a pic of its underside out of interest Just noticed latin name I've kept Pachnoda flaviventris (same I guess known by different name) Pachnoda sinuata calceata is only sinuata subspecies ive kept or heard of :?

    titanus was big, but that was it, wouldn't be something I'd be desperate to keep, much prefer the harlequin (sp?) beetle that was on, did you see titanus's mandibles, bloody heck, chomp off your finger in one bite

    I kept all my secies of fruit beetles in my room, mainly meaning they only had the little light coming from the window were so in quite dark conditions yet most species still bred well

    I think people are talking about two different things the 17 year cycle thing Jackson first mentioned were the cicadas, the ones that followed his clicking other people seem to now be talking about the Titan(was that its name) beetle which the grub hadn't been discovered, I'm confused ...

    I didn't think it was that long but as I say I'm not sure (I originlly got adults of all species I kept so had cultures for most of them quite rapidly}

    :P Well they weren't beetles either! katydids are nearer than beetles, dont know why but I say they are so thats good enough for me :D
