    Moth Catching

:D Its rough. I do cut little trails so my 9 pound dog doesn't get stuck. Otherwise he has to hop everywhere.

    Moth Catching

I have been determined to catch my own food. My local fly population has been sporadic so I stopped cutting the grass in my backyard to see what happens. I have a nice privacy fence so my neighbors don't see my lack of standards. Soon, my bahia and johnson grass was tall with seed. At night, I...

    cloth lids

I make mantis cages out of disposable plastic food containers. You can get nice 4 packs for a dollar or so. Nice cheap containers. I cut a big hole in the top and tape cheescloth to the hole. Cheesecloth wont keep fruit flies in. When you are using anything that feeds on fruit flies, put tin...

    caterpillar

Just found and feed off a small caterpillar. It was like a writhing water balloon when the mantis hit it. Very gross and messy. He'll be cleaning for hours.

    breeding for the first time

With as fast as it happened, I have a hard time believing a male had determined species, much less even gender with as much time as it took for him to make a decision. It was a female shaped object and he was going for it.

    breeding for the first time

Liftoff here too. Big TY to Rick for his pinned thread. I have been really unhappy with my male. My females want to do nothing but eat now. Anything that moves is game. My males however seems distracted. They seem to want to eat if it is convenient. I feed my boy and if he thinks he can escape...

Why do people hate bugs so much?

I think it is harder for people to relate to them. You can relate to your dog or cat or even your hamster. The farther you go on the animal kingdom, the harder I think it is for some people to understand or show compassion or some animals. You have less in common. Dogs are social den animals...

    Alien Swarm

Steam released a pretty cool game called Alien Swarm recently. It is top down co-op. Best part is it is free. I thought it would suck but it doesn't and I cant stop playing. It has prestige too like CODMW2. Had they made the game longer, this could have made some money. check out the trailer...

Gator Attack Pic (don't look if you may be bothered)

Jacksonville, FL picture taken right HERE I used to live a mile from there and I would get FL Bark mantids on my apt door. They were just trying to be kept. Wish I was into mantids more when I lived there now that I think back on it.

Gator Attack Pic (don't look if you may be bothered)

Yea, that pic didn't happen to be too graphic. I'd prefer to be overcautious rather then offend somebody.
