    leaving mantids for periods of time

    when theres a livefood shortage, and if they really are going hungry you can feed them chicken. I have never had to do it myself, but plenty of people have. In fact I read recently on here that some guy is feeding his mantis cat food, and the mantis is doing very well.

    Ah excellent, I will look out for that. The only thing I noticed from personal experience is that in most cases they refuse to eat. I'll take a look at their abdomen next time. Cheers

    its not all bad. At least any males have a bit more of a chance now. Sorry ot hear about the bad molt, though compared to how things could have turned out its not too bad. Hope she heals well

    there *is* an airing cupboard, but other people use it to dry their clothes, so thats a definate no go area. I might try the putting them in a cardboard box idea and see how it goes. At the moment my fruit fly culture reaks just as much of vinegar as it does of insect, so it hasnt helped really

    Its not the tanks, My tanks have never gotten bad. Whether its because they generally dont or whether its because I clean them every once in a while im not sure. Its the food im more concerned about

    Cheers yen. Thats *exactly* what I was looking for. I couldn't find any online shops that sell it in the UK (admittedly I spent all of 2 minutes looking), but there are plenty of people on ebay selling it. Ordered myself a bag :) Cheers
