    Tomato hornworm with wasp parasites

Pulled this hornworm off the tomato plants. It is covered with parasitic wasp cocoons. Apparently a wasp lays its eggs inside the hornworm, the eggs hatch, the larva eat the insides, eventually pop out on the skin as cocoons. By the time a hornworm looks like this, he's about toast. Cocoons...

    Snake Problem

Opinions differ on whether one should keep wild caught animals. Depends on the species IMO. There are no shortage of Black Rat Snakes here and they are known to tame up readily.

    Snake Problem

A couple weeks ago I took an 18" black rat snake out of my neighbor's house. My son wanted to keep it, so we set it up in a tank with a "secure" lid. A week later I went to see how the snake was doing and found it had escaped. Checked the room and couldn't find it. So another week goes by and...

The species is Aphonopelma moderatum (SW Texas). The female is not yet fully grown, but I've been told they can mate young and have a sac at this size.

    Trouble with D. Hydei culture

Yen, I have gotten cultures from both places and mine are probably a mix of both. They have been producing for a year without issue using the fruitflies.net media. Are you doing anything to the containers prior to creating cultures? I just rinse mine and wipe them out. I also add a pinch of...

Couple questions. About how long until hatch in a room that goes from 72F at night to 80F by day? Is this a decent size for an Orchid ooth? What are the hatch sizes on these?
