It is somewhat grotesque to watch the little guy kicking away in her grasp and missing his head. :shock:

I wasn't keeping a real close eye on these guys. Good thing he mated her last week. This week he tried to creep up the side rather than the rear. Bad idea. :(

My female B. boehmei molted a couple days ago. She's 4" leg span now.

It's toast and has been fed off

Got a Carolina ooth in trade last month and it hatched this past week over time. Day 1 - 35 nymphs Day 2 - 0 Day 3 - 0 Day 4 - 6 Day 5 - 0 Day 6 - 6 Rick or anyone else, did yours hatch like this?

I think I'll pass on wild food from now on. Two strikes against me.

More hatched today for a total of about 90. One mating with these females and 8-9 ooths each without a major drop in nymphs. Prolific.

Who knows I guess. She wasn't real old, matured in early February and had laid 2 ooths. Last year we fed a moth caught in the garden to a Carolina mantis and it dropped dead in the middle of eating the moth.
