    Orchid home

We have around fifteen live orchid plants of various sizes and leaf compositions. They are kept in a temperature/humidity controlled room with my reptiles and many other plants. I was thinking of just building a small wire mesh cage around some of the orchids to keep mantis in. Does anyone...

    Bluegill

Sweet! Native species! I plan on going native with my snapping turtle enclosure when I get it up and running... of course my turtle needs to grow a little first. What's the gourami up to?

    White's Tree Frog/Dumpy Frog

As stated, info can be found on keeping them on google. What the care sheets don't tell you is that if you rub the top of their heads, they will bend them down as though they are enjoying it. Also, they change colors from a deep brownish green to a very pale green which is cool. Ours ate...

    What kind of frog?!

Hey, we had a pacman for quite a while and the sucker got pretty big. It was eating mice, superworms, crickets, cockroaches, my finger once, etc. They are fun to watch eat, but they don't really do much other than that. They come in different color morphs too. Aquatic Environments here in...

    Anybody else like turtles?

Glad to hear the box turtle has a good home now. The eastern in the original pictures looks very similar to the box I had while I was growing up. I have a year and a half old Florida snapping turtle, and I just love the little guy/girl. Not aggressive (yet) and loves its food. It gets a...

    versicolor

Sparky- Yes they are real plants, you are looking at three different species of bromeliads. The one on the far left is sometimes called a snake plant... I don't know why. Buddhist- They had a Goliath (T. blondi) at Aquatic Environments here in Davenport. Not sure how often you make it over...

    Some of the plants

Sparky- On the most commonly available orchids (here anyway) called phalaenopsis the flowers die off but your plant is still very much alive. They go through a growing period where the leaves and roots are growing, then a cycle where they send up a new flower spike that will contain several...

    Some of the plants

Thanks for the comments! Sadly, only fish live in the vivarium at the moment. We plan on adding in dart frogs and a group of small geckos when we go to the next reptile swap. The orchids actually are moderately easy to care for. The problem most people have is over-watering. We mist them a...

    Blue web tree frog

This is a frog we used to have, great looking little guy. We sold him off because we decided we wanted our vivarium to contain dart frogs and we want to do a separate tank for tree frogs later.

    Some of the plants

Thanks, we like it a lot. The best part is hard to see, but there is a waterfall running through the middle area. It runs over the big rock just above the red bromeliad toward the top center of the tank.

    Some of the plants

These are just a few of the plants we keep. I know some of you expressed an interest in seeing them so the first one is an orchid, a phalaenopsis. and my favorite phalaenopsis then a paphiopedelum, or lady slipper orchid And here's another orchid species, the name escapes me right now...
