    Heat Lamps

I just use Ikea desk-lamps. they give a lot of heat and you can put them closer or further away, which gives you the possibility to regulate the temperature. :)

    Temperatures and Holidays

Hey there :) About the draft I wouldn't be too worried. As long as the mantis doesn't stand next to the window and in the middle of the draft it should be fine. Just have an eye on the temperature in the enclosure and don't let it drop too much. But if you have a lamp it should stay warm...

Hierodula membranacea dead - black liquid leaking out underneath her wings

I saw your post and even commented it on facebook.. thank you for your reply. As I don't feed roaches it wasn't a roach. I stick with wax worms, wax moths, flies and a cricket from time to time.. but it might have been a fungus or some kind of fungal infection..but something killed a second...

Hierodula membranacea dead - black liquid leaking out underneath her wings

Thanks for your response and sorry for your loss as well.. She molted to adult maybe 1.5 months ago and laid a beautiful ooth (infertile though) the weekend before she passed away. Hello from Switzerland :)

Thanks a lot! I found a breeder near me. Thanks to the world wide web! You can also get them from pet shops here, but I don't trust them too much. There's going to be an "insect market" where I'm going to, soon. :) As far as I know, there are no indigenous mantids in Switzerland. There...

    Hello from Switzerland :)

Thank you very much! Well, good point. I have 3 girls and only one male. I additionally ordered two subadult males - they got to me today, unfortunately the breeder sent me L5 and no subadults, which will make the breeding rather difficult. Yes, I really used heated nails, after my carpet...
