Gadzooks no. Regular potting soil will kill them....too many chemicals. These guys do best in pete moss (Not Miracle grow - that has fertilizer) and perlite (again, not miracle grow) or LFS (long fibered sphagnum). Also, when watering, use rain water, distilled water or reverse osmosis...

I have these nesting in my yard - I just tell the girls to watch, but don't touch! I caught one once in a net, and put it in a mason jar to show them. When it tried to fly, it created a dog gone TORNADO in the jar! Man, those things are strong. Needless to say, I loosened the top by hand...

Well, I had the idea of having lots of sticks in there, too....I've read that Idolo's need lots of sticks. That would (theoretically) solve the problem, as it would present multiple points where they could climb back up. I guess you're right, though. Just won't know til I try!

Hi everyone, I have a few ooths of purple boxers (thanks Brian!). I had one nypmh hatch out a few days ago, and figured it was a semi-dud ooth....but now I've had another lone nymph hatch.... Is this par for the course with boxers? One at a time? Man, these guys are TINY! :D Update...
