Ghost nymphs all died - what went wrong

Hi everyone just seeing if this has happened to anyone else, had two ghost mantis ooths hatch on the same day, most of the nymphs looked fine (a few had there legs stuck together from hatching). So i moved them all into a 18*20*29 cm viv with plenty of ventilation. I made a series of climbing...

    First Mating Attempt...oh dear!

We unsuccessfully attempted to mate our Sphodromantis viridis today...oh dear! However, having read all the advice on here we called a halt to the proceedings and will try again in a few days. We thought you might like to see the photo's (they are quite comical and we think there could be some...

    Katnapper's Picture of Today

Ahhh, we understand fully. Our first ever mantid (Alan, the female sphodromantis viridis) will be meeting her boyfriend (Barry) tomorrow and hopefully making music with him and not eating him. However, we know she won't be with us forever and will feel very much the same.

Thanks for all your kind comments, we are pretty chuffed with our first attempts at photographing them (and they are the most fun models to work with). The camera is a complete bargain, we didnt have much to spend on it so we found a man who knew what he was talking about. Its a FUJIFILM -...

Thanks Katnapper - this forum is great! Bryce, what can we say, its probably more due to the fact that there isnt much to do in Plymouth ;)

    Please help us ID

Great, thanks for all the help....as a result we have done some more research...do you think they are sphodromantis gastrica? We think this because of the 3 yellow marks on the coxa. We have looked at so many pictures of mantids that we will be dreaming of them tonight!!!

    Hi from Plymouth, UK

Sounds good :D although if I leave him to his own devises we would have a huge collection - he is already planning the extension of our front room, something about a ghost super colony...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What makes a Ghost go Green?

We wondered about this as we keep Ghosts too. We wondered if it was the same principle as this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peppered_moth_evolution B)
