    Mantid care when you're away

    To leave them alone one week only is no problem at all, especially if we are talking about older nymphs or adults. Just feed them up, put some castors inside and give them a good mist before you go. They will be fine if they are neglected only one week. Just don't switch off the heating...

    Thanks guys, the incubation takes around 8-9 weeks and the hatch rate is around 20 +/- nymphs. This one hatched 22 nymphs and the highest hatch rate I had was 27. This species was compared to others relatively easy to breed. Cheers Stefan

    I found in the beginning of this year an ooth of this (most likely) Acanthops sp. in Peru and it hatched 24 nymphs, from which I have now 4 adult males and 6 adult females (and another 2 subadult ones). 5 females are mated and the first laid her first ooth last Saturday :clap: : Cheers...

    The legs do not look too bad. Maybe leave her in peace one or two days and then try handfeeding her. She might not be able to use her raptorial arms, so you have to kind of force her to eat. Try first to hold a dead prey animal in front of her mouth, if you are lucky she starts eating, if not...
