    Should I euthanize?

Ok, thank you for the reply. How long should I wait? A day? A few days? A week?

    Should I euthanize?

Hi, I made a thread a few days ago but I still want someone's opinion on what I should do. I have a mantis that has had no interest in prey whatsoever. I have tried for hours to feed her. She's interested in it but never grabs it. She's chewed the ends of her legs off (maybe got stuck?) but now...

    Self Cannibalism, Refusing to eat

Ok, thank you for replying. I think her legs might've been getting caught in the mesh lid so I put a paper towel between the enclosure and the mesh. She's still not eating and refusing prey. All she does is ignore it completely... I will give her some time and see what happens

    Weak / Dying ???

If she looks like she's suffering or struggling to survive, I would euthanize her in the freezer.. Try giving her some honey and see if the sugar helps

    Self Cannibalism, Refusing to eat

She ate but she's starting to eat her legs again... should I euthanize her...?

    Self Cannibalism, Refusing to eat

Thanks! Unfortunately she's an adult but I lined the bottom of her enclosure with an old towel and wrapped it around the sticks too and she's hanging almost upside down on them fine! I'll just have to baby her more than my other mantids

    Self Cannibalism, Refusing to eat

Update: I got her to eat (yay!) I found a method that works so she grabs it herself. (I break the head off of a meal beetle and hold it to her mouth until she starts biting on it, then I let go so the bug dangles from her mouth and eventually she grabs it) I'm still concerned about her legs...

    Self Cannibalism, Refusing to eat

Hi. I have a cat mantis who has been refusing food. I try to feed her but she never grabs it herself. Today I noticed that it appeared she has eaten the sticky parts off of her two front legs and one raptor claw. Is there anything I can do to make her more comfortable? I was thinking about...

    Urgent: Horrible mismolt

I still have one left, I hope it doesn't get lonely. If I could've saved it I would have but everything was tangled up and I think trying to save it would've been selfish, I could tell it was in pain, poor thing.

    Urgent: Horrible mismolt

I would've fixed it if I could but with only one molt left, both rapters damaged, back damage and abdomen damage it would be selfish to let it suffer just to "feel good" about the situation... Thank you two for your kind words.

    Urgent: Horrible mismolt

It's really bad.. both it's raptors were stuck, and it's abdomen was twisted and it's back was also bent pretty bad, I tried to give it some honey but it barely reacted. it was only a molt away from an adult after that one. I decided to freeze it, there wasn't anything I could do.

    Urgent: Horrible mismolt

My giant African stick mantis just mismolted really bad, her raptors are stuck in her exoskeleton and both her abdomen and neck are bent horribly... Should I just put her in the freezer? I don't want her to be in pain but I don't think she's going to Live very long. It appears that she attempted...

    Severely damaged eyes (Rhombodera)

When my mantids become picky at what they eat, I just put some natural honey on it and put it near their mouth. Every mantis I've had LOVES honey. Even though she gets defensive it couldn't hurt to try.

    Fluffy's Next Molt?

Usually the older they get the longer between molts. For some species a warmer environment can help them molt faster. I'm not experienced in breeding so I can't say much on that; however, I can say that if you want to try heat, make sure you only use a heat-pad or light bulb on one side of the...

    Cognition?

I definitely think they are intelligent, after owning them I don't feel as if I can deny them of that.

    Strange Morphs

Very nice! I especially like the Orange bordered P.laevis! I've been needing to get some pillbugs lately for my Cat Mantids enclosure.

Anyone play or watch a gameplay of resident evil 7?

I watch horror gameplay every night before I go to bed, I gotta say it's certainly made me a strong dreamer that's for sure! I love the horror genre in general, I usually watch Daz Black play them, he's one of my favorite youtubers because he's still so down to earth.

    Mushrooms in Vivarium?

Hi all! I have a vivarium for my two subadult female Heterochaeta Orientalis (Giant African Stick Mantis) and i noticed that mushrooms have started to grow inside the vivarium. I know that usually with frogs it isn't a big deal but i was wondering if it was safe for them or if i should clean out...

Spiny Flower Mantis scared of food?

Depending on the species, smaller mantids can become very intimidated by slightly large prey. I wouldn't worry about it too much! Just wait till she gets a bit bigger or use smaller flies ^^
