    New enclosure

I haven't heard much about the aluminum mesh thing, but I also might be concerned with humidity as well. Maybe if you lined the inside again with a material of choice it would solve both problems.

    Fly container?

Hi all! I ordered a hefty order of flies for my four mantids, and I don't want to keep them all in the fridge because I want them to last longer. I don't want to purposefully breed them, I was just wondering if there was a design you could tell me about where I could put new pupae in and harvest...

Tyler is very, very kind and very professional. He often adds cage decor in the package mantids are shipped in. He even gave me an extra mantis when ordering from him last! So far he is my favorite breeder I have bought from, and I will absolutely continue to do business with him.  :D

Mantis fell an inch while molting

Wow!! This is my first mantis so I never knew male mantids had protruding reproductive organs like that. He's eating and going to the bathroom anyway, so I moved him into my large vivarium. He looked happy. :sweatdrop:  Thanks!

Mantis fell an inch while molting

I can try, but I know for sure that he's a male. It would be hard to take a picture because his wings now extend past his abdomen :(

Mantis fell an inch while molting

When I got home about 5 hours ago I put him in a container with a papertowel bottom so i could see if he goes at all, and he hasn't yet. I'll try feeding him tomorrow and if he doesn't go by sunday *if he eats that is* I'll put him in the freezer so he doesn't suffer anymore. He is my first...

Mantis fell an inch while molting

Yeah that's what I was worried about most. I'll have to move him to an enclosure with a paper towel temporarily.  @CosbyArt I took a closer look and it appears that the top half of the tip of his abdomen didn't extend completely, and the lower abdomen did, exposing the inside on the tip, if...

Mantis fell an inch while molting

My giant African just molted, and he sort of fell a little bit, probably half an inch or an inch. He climbed back up and hung himself upside down afterwards, but he seems to be missing the tiny tip of the top of his abdomen, probably about a millimeter. Do you think he'll be ok?  Edit: The...

    Mantis Refusing Food

Nevermind! Went downstairs and found her eating a fruit fly. Not sure what was wrong.

    Mantis Refusing Food

I have a female double shield, she's still a nymph. She molted about 3-4 days ago. Probably 12 hours after molting she fell from the side of her enclosure about 3 inches or so. She seemed fine, climbed right back up. But she's refusing food, there's nothing wrong with her front claws since she...

    Molting soon?? Idk

Yo! I have an L2 Giant African mantis, it's been eating less and less and I think it's going to molt soon but... I heard they molt roughly every two weeks. I got this L2 mantid in the mail on August 10th, (today is the 21st) anything I can do besides removing feeders and misting the cage extra...

    PERFECT VIVARIUM PLANT MIX??

Guys omg look at these little plants they're so perfect for a vivarium. I think they're used to anchor other plants and it's called a Sedum Tile but omg they're so small and cute I'm such a nerd. Just thought I'd share my find with everyone- assuming they're safe for mantids (I don't think...
