love centipedes myself, and that is a beauty, however they are the insect hunter i have the most respect (a.k.a. fear :P ) for, large, very agressive, strong, able to hold and crush like a snake and powerful venom is a heck of a combo, when i get one im definatly gonna take alot more caution...

aside from budwings and really big females, most mantids can fly quite well so i've been told, but yet i've never seen one fly myself, so i was wondering when do mantids fly? can you make them fly anyway? i've seen some of macro junkies pics of his mantids in flight, i assume they fly to escape...

wow, very very nicely done, it really makes you realise just that even with the many mantid species that we have in captivity, along with all other insects that people around the world keep, we're really only on the tip of the iceberg :)

got a decent heat mat and bulb for them, usually around 30-35oC during the day, i turn it off at night and then it drops to standard room temps, got a bearded dragon as well as the mantids so the room temp is usually quite high anyway, around 25oC
