I didn't realize my mantis was about to molt!

How is he doing, has he eaten?  The only real concern I would have is the bend in the thorax preventing food from going down, but if he can eat, I think he should do just fine.

    Scared of my mantis

Aw I'm glad to hear you're staying in the hobby.  Bad things happen sometimes in any hobby but the key is to not let them ruin it for you. :)   Also, I'm sure you are super excited about your new mantises coming in - have fun!

My male R. basalis just molted to adult too!  I love their wings.  Great pictures by the way.

    Managing my blue bottles

The above sounds like a good system.  What I do is keep the pupae in the fridge and hatch them out in batches in deli cups, with milk/pop/Gatorade lids to hold food (ground up cereal) and water so they last a while once hatched.  Then I put the whole container in the freezer for a few minutes at...

    the gongy desert!

It looks awesome, well done!  Nice to see something so different, especially with the red rock background.

    Beginner Mantis? Advanced keepers?

I think temperature, humidity and ventilation are the main things that make a species hard from what I understand, but I believe species that aren't too hard to raise but are difficult to successfully breed are referred to as more advanced species as well.  So if you don't intend to breed them...

Nice color variations.  My R. basalis male just molted to adult this week (I'm not trying to slow him down at all).  To be honest I'm not sure if the females are L8 or L9.  They probably won't molt for a couple more weeks so I'll be keeping an eye on the wing buds as that time approaches...

    Chinese Mantis Hatch!

Well that's not a very fun mantis scavenger hunt if you don't find them alive!  But sadly the mortality rate is typically high so it's to be expected, although still not fun.

    Chinese Mantis Hatch!

No problem!  Aw, that one is cute.  If they just hatched yesterday, is it possible they still need another day before they're ready to eat?  I haven't had L1s myself before but I had heard that they could take D. hydei.  You could always try waiting another day to see if they'll tackle them...

Cute photos, and congratulations on the hatch!  It is cool how the dates lined up.  Some of your photos aren't visible though by the way.
