    Heat Lamp Setup

Oh, well I either dangled to cord from a hook or just let the reflector sit on top of the screened top. Not sure this is very helpful..but it is what I did

    Heat Lamp Setup

Im not sure how exoterra's but I liked to put them in a ceramic socket with a reflector to point the heat down into the enclosure. Havent used em with mantids yet but I'd be worried about burning them if the bulbs inside the enclosure.

    Mantis really weak please help!!!!

Has she had any water to drink? Could be dehydrated. Has she been eating much? You could try feeding her some honey on a toothpick or something, sometimes that helps.

    Miomantis binotata

Yep. They are quute cute and aggressive little things. I do hope I can get em to breed. Unfortunately, I didn't seperate them fast enough and only have three of five left. Fingers crossed.

    Drain flys as feeders

Personally I especially enjoy feeding any bug I find to my pets(or my carnivorous plants) I bet they'd love em.

    What's your least favorite insect?

I like bugs, just not being bitten or infested by them. I even like the predatory 'pests' like spiders and centipedes who eat any stray bugs in my basement. Thanks bugs. Okay the beetles who were growing in my flour and rice kinda ticked me off though..

    Molt problems

Maybe the smaller one's male? Sorry to hear they had trouble molting. I'm not sure whats wrong, mine were eating hydei happily since their first molt. I have noticed some nymphs prefer eating melanogaster if missing or injured leg though. How many flies do you think they are eating cause mine...

    Hi there.

Hey there BearPhomet, cute mantids. I do the damp cocohusk in most of my mantid cups, however I think the medica prefer very low humidity so you may not want to keep them too moist.

    Where to get deli containers

I was gonna order bulk deli containees online but shipping seemed for a hundred dollar order was just as much as the cups. Where would one find these in bulk locally? The place I've been getting them locally charged me a buck each.

    Exo

Ordered some orchids from exo after attempting unsuccessfully to find them in my country. Paid for express shipping for the orchids and recieved poorly packaged(VERY little protection/insulation) completely dried out mantids.  Sent him a picture as soon as I opened it as he told me he sends...

The struggles of having a mantis

I've given up on all notions of being considered normal a looong time ago, but picturing you guys hovering around schools and chasing flies with cups is making me chuckle:) You FREAKS!

    Shipping mantis

No one needs to know whats inside. Its not even legal to send seeds in the mail, let alone live bugs, especially not foreign species. When I was younger I made the mistake of  being too honest with a curious/nosey mail employee and was informed that my shipment wouldnt be allowed. I'd recommend...

    Wax moths keep dying off

I've just started breeding them and I've noticed quite a few of them dieing off, but I hear thats pretty normal for these guys. A single female can lay a thousand eggs though, so you shouldn't need all of them to make it. They grow much slower if they aren't kept warm though 85 seems ideal...

    Miomantis binotata

So I checked on my new oothecae collection today and noticed a few scouts hatching and wandering around in the Miomantis binotata tub! So I tossed in some springtails and melanogaster which they started eating right away:D I'm surprised to see they've already got a nice striped pattern this...
