I was expecting white mantids as well, but not disappointed... Turns out, Mr. Pink did in fact lose all his pink Pseudocreobotra wahlbergii by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr Pseudocreobotra wahlbergii by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr Biggest of the grass mimics Thesprotia graminis by Hawken Carlton...

Perfect self-gift for the first day of Hannukah :)   I caved and preordered these two a couple weeks ago, now just hoping I can make them retain their pink Hymenopus coronatus by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr Hymenopus coronatus by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr Hymenopus coronatus by Hawken...

    Help

Dionaea should be kept in tall pots with peat (and preferably sand or perlite) rather than sphagnum to avoid rot. They do not like wet crowns.

I doubt color is going to change much from this point on; he'll stick with a peach eye spot and pink sides.

Mr. Pink molted to adult today! He's well ahead of either female, sadly (the other males had better have more decent timing :P ) so he probably won't get a chance to mate, unless males of this species last a while, but he's more than worth keeping just for looks of course. An just because he's...

    Sarah K (PanTerra Pets)

Thus far I've made three orders from PanTerra, two that have come in and one preorder (it'll be a week before I can comment on the third, but I doubt the service will be any different). First order was a set of cups and bluebottle fly pupae, and 50 extra pupae were included; thus far absolutely...

    Welcome to the Jungle

Mantids are a relatively new hobby of mine, but the weird and wonderful have always been my forte. Started out with snakes years ago, but what with parental restrictions and space it's hard to expand with them, so my second main hobby was the one that really took off. I'll update periodically...

3rd male Elmantis to mature, and the last of the original ones I received to do so; they don't last long, but the females just keep going...I hope I can pair him with both of the females between when he reproductively matures and the short period after when they seem to pass, but on the other...

    Your pets?

3 Sphodro lineola 5 P. wahlbergii 5 Heterochaeta orientalis 6 Thesprotia graminis 13 Elmantis sp. (those I intend to keep; a ton of nymphs I need to get rid of too) 3 corn snakes 2 Nelson's milk snakes 2 dogs The list would be a lot longer if I weren't so space restricted... :P

Most of the spinys have a touch of pink, two of them are particularly hot pink though. That lineola is probably 3" long stretched out, longer if the legs are included. On an unrelated note, because I see people doing this in a lot of forums: is there a reason the entire set of photos has to be...

    hcarlton's Mantid Photos

Spiny update; the majority are now at subadult, including the largest female (molted at some point today), but I'm still hoping I can get timing right for both females to have at least one male ready with them. P. wahlbergii by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr P. wahlbergii by Hawken Carlton, on...

    Tips for Heterochaeta

A couple of them did molt, but that doesn't explain the others. Occasionally they'll go after the flies but then if they miss half the time they ignore them henceforth. I did get ahold of some more mealworms, and may end up trying to raise them, and for the most part I can coax them to eat...

    Tips for Heterochaeta

I could not possibly tell you, as I don't know what they arrived as. The largest are nearly 5" long.

    Tips for Heterochaeta

Can't set a desk lamp on top of my bed...they did take mealworms with coaxing before, but I don't want that to be all they eat especially since I have the flies and roaches more readily available. Also, really doubt that they're all getting ready to molt since some only did so a week or two ago...

    Tips for Heterochaeta

So up until the last couple of weeks I have had little to no problem getting my H. orientalis to feed, and could coax them into taking flies, roaches, meal worms, you name it, but recently despite clearly needing to eat (some are starting to get thin) they've often begun more or less ignoring...

    Looking for Sphodromantis lineola female

I have 3 S. lineola currently at I believe pre-subadult, but unfortunately all of them look to be male so I would like to find at least one female to pair one of them with when they hit maturity; don't have a lot to trade with right now other than perhaps one of the males themselves, so hoping...

    SOLD

I have a couple dozen African ground mantis nymphs beginning to molt to L2-L3 and thereby ready for sale; this is an easy species and stays relatively small, can be communal if fed well. US only, I ship via USPS Priority or Express at the buyer's choosing, and I also have 72 hour heat packs...

    hcarlton's Mantid Photos

If you have a lineola female about the same age as my males I'd be willing to do a trade; not quite sure how to tell but they're either presub or subadult, guessing only a couple molts off of maturity and about 2-3" long when they stretch out. Otherwise, I'm hoping to sell the ooths I have and...
