    Fruit fly pupae sellers?

I keep my own cultures going and have only purchased some twice in the last four years. I, too, order just the adult flies. Buying just the pupae sounds interesting, but I don't know if I want flying ones in my house. I wonder how they raise them so that they can collect the pupae.

Yen, if I get a new species, I check your website to see if you have had experience with the species. I'm sad to hear your are going to close it, but I understand!

    mealworm staple

I try to provide my mantids with a varied diet. It's harder to do so here in Minnesota during the winter. I offer many of my mantids mealworms now and then to add variety to their diet. Since I raise my own, I know that they are healthy. I also use them as an emergency food source if I don't...

Some molted skin stuck on Heirodula L4

Baby meat??? I've had limited success with mismolts, but I have saved a few that have been able to still hang from a lid and eat. However, yours is bent worse than any that I've saved. I mist them before removing the skin with a tweezers. I feed them by removing the head from blue bottle flies...

    Hymenopus coronatus

A couple of those images you posted on 10/28 would have made a nice addition to the annual forum calendar. Please consider submitting next year!! Good luck breeding yours. It's one species I haven't had luck with.

    Heat Lamps

What is your daytime and nighttime room temperature where you live? I only use heat lamps for those species that like it really hot such as Blepharopsis mendica. Otherwise, I use heat mats or just keep them at room temperature.

    Newbie ghost mantis help

I raise mine communally. However, there is always a risk. I probably wouldn't keep mine together if I only had one male and one female.

    Adult and Baby (L1) images

Bringing up an old topic I started over two years ago. I finally had an opportunity to photograph another adult with an L1 nymph. My first Decimiana bolivari ooth hatched on Sunday. I posted the photos above. This time it's actually the mother of the nymph. I couldn't the baby to hang on the...

    Heat pads vs. mats

I used to use the seedling heat mats and found they worked well. The only issue I ever had is that one of them got really warm and made the counter top material buckle a bit in my laundry room. After that happened, I put them on a timer so that they would go on and off 4 times during the day...

    Decimiana bolivari

Yes, my female that laid the two ooths was mated, though the male didn't seem to stay connected to either female for very long. My first female mated finally laid an ooth last night, and it's really long. Both of my females were calling right before mating. Both of them looked at the male and...
