    My First Enclosure

Your enclosure looks incredible, I'm jealous! Your mantis is a lucky little guy. :)

    No ooths?

Thanks for the kind words. Sadly nothing I have done has encouraged her to lay. Her abdomen seems really heavy and hard to support at this point, so I'm not sure what to do other than just let her be. I'm going to try raising the temp in the critter room/study a few degrees without making the...

    Is it ill ???

The only thing I have to add is that you might want to watch her enclosure really closely for mold if you are misting that many times a day. Good luck with her, I hope everything works out! :)

    No ooths?

Update: Even with the changes in enclosure and humidity she still has not laid. :( Would bumping her temps up a bit help maybe? The room we keep our animals in tends to stay around 74-76.

How to search & find mantids and ooths (Pictorial guide)

This looks like an awesome guide! I haven't read it all yet, but I've bookmarked it for future reading. I've done a bit of mantis searching while out herping but have never had any luck, maybe it's time to try again! :)

    Baby Pseudouroctonus reddelli scorpions

I've never kept scorpions so I have no advice, but I just wanted to say that the babies are absolutely adorable!

    Quickly becoming mantis obsesessed

Welcome to the forum! I think ghost are a great beginner species, I've found mine really hardy and easy to care for. :)

Hello! I am new to mantid keeping and to this forum :)

Welcome! I'm sorry to hear about Pope, I lost one of my favorites to a fall during her final molt and it was devastating. Good luck with your new babies and make sure to share pictures! :)

    No ooths?

Thank you for the advice! I've always kept a divider up between her and the others because she is such a hunter. Even as a little nymph she spent all of her time staring down her neighbors. I feel like I've done everything I can now to encourage her to lay, hopefully she decides it's finally...

    No ooths?

I knew it wasn't normal because my other adult female laid her first infertile ooth not too long after she matured. Her enclosure is already pretty furnished, but I'll try switching things around for her and see if that suits her. Hopefully with a change of scenery she will decide to lay. Thanks...

How to film my mantis eating a fly ?

I would take her out of her enclosure and offer the fly to her with tongs so you can film her. Good luck! :)

    No ooths?

My female P. picta has been mature for around three months and has not laid any infertile ooths for me, should I be concerned? She is very large and her abdomen looks almost swollen. I have drastically cut back on how much I feed her because she looks like she might burst! I'm afraid of her...

Maude molted to adult - yay!

She's such a pretty golden/yellow color! Is that typical of this species?

    Ashlee's Collection Thread

Thank you! Elf really is a stunner, which makes up for her not so great personality.   As far as equipment goes, I'm using my Nikon D5300 with an 18-55 mm lens right now. I am extremely new to photography, I've only had my DSLR a few months. I'm enjoying it so far though, and I hope that...
