How to determine gender for L3/L4 Idolomantis diabolica

Thanks again, Yen - for all your help on this and about a jazillion other topics (and for getting be started with my first batch of these beasts!). If there are no other comments (and with your blessings), I'd like to add this to the Consolidated thread's first page, and eventually to the final...

    Screen House

Yup! And with a side zipper, you need to decide if teh flap folds UP or DOWN. With flies as food, I prefered UP, as I could sneak my hand inside from the bottom, and avoid a mass exodus of BB's! With crickets, I did the opposite. You'll still need to clean the mesh every few weeks, so keep...

    Start Here Tab...?

If someone else wants to step up and do it, great. If not, i plan to go through a bunch of pages and find the photos that will insert well into the existing text. I'll get permission from anyone's photos once I find them (or just embed the link and give credit, or add " photo follow"...

    Idolomantis Consolidated

Not sure about the odd time table. But food wise, I've never seen any problem with over eatting, other than the flies becoming a hazzard when the Idolos are full. Eventually, I either let the exttra flies go, extract them from the enclosure, or (and this is just me) add smaller (or bigger)...

    Start Here Tab...?

Yeah - I think so. I read it again... pretty thorough. I've got a few days of paperwork I have the crunch through, but I'll hop on it as soon as I can...

    Start Here Tab...?

My guess is all 3 of the bottom topics would have links to you. Where to get feeders, where to get enclosures, Bugatorium, popular breeders... that sort of thing. IMO, every newbie to the hobby should take a walk through "Bugatorium" to get a sense of scale and grandeur... And mantisplace is...

    Screen House

Nice work. I have a similar one with the PVC on the inside. I always thought a design that essentially unzipped in half would be good for cleaning. Any reason you put the zipper on the side, instead of the side or bottom...?

    Girl Happy

Ha! And here I thought it was the Ghost that was in trouble! Thar wahlbergii is looking at her with a mighty stare! I admit, the Blepharopsis are bigger than I thought. Impressive little lady.

    Insect Identification help

I wish I had uncles and aunts that would do that sort of thing together. Kudos!

    Rainbow Rhombodera!

Yeah - I had some "Red Flash" (at least that's what they were calling them) last year, that looked like that. But the orange, browns and pinks were essentially just red. I gave them away at an early stage, so never saw the adult form.

    Start Here Tab...?

Ah! OK - let's try it like this: Here's what I think they should see after they click on the link. I've minimized and simplified it. This is just the basics for new visitors. But the truth is, if we add pictures, Peter's Mantis Caresheet is really everything they need in one document...

Been a while since I had ZooMeds going, but I think you can just put a piece of glass on top to partially cover the screen, to keep the humidity in. Don't use anything that might melt or catch fire (assuming you're using heat lamps above to warm it). If you don't want to kill your air flow...

    Start Here Tab...?

Excellente!!! Hope this works. I'm thinking no one but you (and other administrators) would need to, or be able to add or amend to it once pinned. Nice and simple. Some of the threads already exist. Some need to be compiled, truncated, updated, or completely recreated. What I think is good...

    Start Here Tab...?

Yup! The author has the ability to update the thread (in the Idolo case, that's me). The only thing in the 33 pages that I think has yet to be added, and hasn't, is Yen's sexing report. Pretty soon, I think we can just truncated it, add pictures, and re-port it as a complete Caresheet. But...

    Start Here Tab...?

Hey, guys (mostly admins). I'm wondering if we couldn't add a tab or a big button (or something) to the first page of the forum. There's SO MUCH information here, but a new person to the hobby (or, as I was, new to FORUMS in general) will have trouble knowing where to start. Might be nice to...
