    Cannot PM. Help please!

Should be fixed now. I would not have noticed this post if I didn't happen to notice that you tried to create a second account with us. Only one account per member. Welcome and sorry for the difficulty. The system did flag you as a spammer initially because you happen to share a connection that...

    silverfish and fire brats

I raise both for dead stock sales, but neither is very prolific. The firebrats seem easier than the silverfish. Heat, dry, oatmeal and cardboard pieces. I think I got the firebrats from somebody here on the forum a while back. I make only a half effort with them, but don't really need them to do...

the awkward moment when a hemileuca is mistaken for heroin

I suppose decorating your folder with moths is, for some, like wearing fur. Humans didn't have as many options for adornment in the early days, eh? Insects, to me, are like moving flowers. Or kites or balloons without strings, usually just out of reach. Nothing we make quite equals.

How do I upload a profile picture?

Sounds more like a break in your wireless internet service, to me. Then again, you found a way to write that post.

How do I upload a profile picture?

Was it the file size (in kb or mb) or the image size (in pixels) that it said was too large? Please share the exact figures for your photo in both cases. The forum probably does limit both the dimensional size as well as the file size. I'm not sure which limiter you two are passing.

the awkward moment when a hemileuca is mistaken for heroin

I had a slightly similar thing happen a few weeks ago. I had two guys over and we spent half the day sorting dead bugs in my insect freezer in the garage. It was a beautiful afternoon and I had the garage door up. We were preserving some of the specimens in ethanol and since the lab grade stuff...

    Onychophora ( velvet worm )

I bought some from KenTheBugGuy a few years back. His wife was having some success in raising them. Aside from that we have a longtime member on this forum from New Zealand whose username may or may not be Peripatus, aptly and if memory ~serves, and he has offered these and Orthodera mantises to...

    Beekeeping

Yeah, I asked my friend at work tonight and he gave me a look that pretty much reflected what you said in words. He did say he sees dead drones, but his other question was effectively, "even if there were a bunch of dead ones in there, how are you going to get them out?". I suspect he has a...

    Beekeeping

If anybody has a pile of (dead) bees in decent condition from seasonal die-off, I'd be interested in chatting with you. I've got a local friend with a few hives so I'll have to hit him up too. He gave me my first jar of honey with actual honeycomb in it a few years back. I'd never actually seen...

    Saturniid Hatchling Comparison Thread

Awesome thread, Agent! That C. regalis larva is crazy. It would be interesting/helpful to see the instar listed next to each photo.

    psuedo scorpions

You should really be more careful about what you eat, Agent. There are easier ways to collect pseudoscorpions. I have a new starter colony from Arizona as of a few weeks ago. A couple females have extruded orange egg pouches.

How To *** Citheronia regalis Pupae

Just saw a few C. splendens on our sheets in Arizona. Great post, Agent!

Just completed another transaction with Jamurfjr and here to report a pattern of consistency in all areas! My second transaction with him. Won't be my last!

    Mantid Forum History?

Oh, and BidaBug was an auction site I began a number of years back to help raise money for the American Tarantula Society and other non-profits. I had hoped that hobbyists would support the Ebay-like auction style format for a good cause, but it became tiresome really fast and that, combined...

    Mantid Forum History?

Ha, fun topic! Most of the blanks have been filled in. Leah and DeShawn (mantiskingdom.com) began the forum (help me out here, Orin). There's some gossipy stuff from that first year or so that I wonder if Rick privately recalls. I was in the hobby before this forum, but dabbled mostly in...

    Rover Beetle

Your scorpionflies are nicer than ours out West. Our females hardly have wings at all. I saw my first one in April: http://bugguide.net/node/view/764126 (male) http://bugguide.net/node/view/775107 (female) I'm sending mine off to a DNA researcher to determine whether they are a new species...

    Tolerance WILL NOT be tolerated

Closing this thread for later review (read the first page only, so far). Shipped my 13 boxes of bugs today and have to forward off tracking numbers for customers before my kids come home and need homework help. Then I'm off to my job before I get up and do it all again tomorrow. Overmoderation...
