Just looked in the enclosure yesterday. Two of the fly pupae have hatched. So far my mantis hasn't shown interest in bigger prey. Hopefully my mantis will take one down today!

Can house fly pupae hatch under substrate? Some substrate spilled while transporting my mantis and the fly pupae are under it. There is less than an inch of substrate in the container.

So do mantises clean their legs? I picked up my mantis today and it kept chewing on its leg. The leg looks intact and the same as the others. Should I be worried or is this normal?

Hey guys. I was wondering how you store house fly/blue bottle fly pupae so they won't hatch until you need them. How long do they take to hatch and how many should I feed an L4 mantis in a week? 

What are some signs of a mantis going into pre-molt? Do they refuse food like tarantulas do?
