FS Hierodula majuscula (Giant Australian Rainforest mantis) Sexed Pairs Sold Out

I have too many H. majuscula nymphs to feed right now. So I am hoping to sell some sexed pairs. I think they are about L4 to L6. They are $30 for one sexed pair. But I will discounted them to $22 per sexed pair if you buy two or more pairs. I may need to buy some heat packs, so it could be...

Shipping mantises with 120 hour heat packs

The 110 hour heat packs that I got recently are said to have gone out of date last November. I hope they will still work okay. The one I tested got warm. But it is going cool now. I started it Saturday last week, so it hasn't really lasted all that long. I did have the heat pack exposed...

Shipping mantises with 120 hour heat packs

I remember reading Yen Saw saying that ventilation holes are not necessary when shipping mantises. The plastic containers probably don't have a perfect seal and so let enough oxygen in for the mantises. When I was testing the 110 hour heat pack I noticed the containers with the fabric lids...

Shipping mantises with 120 hour heat packs

Okay. I have not tried the 110 hour heat packs before. I have only used the 96 hour heat packs. I will test a 110 hour heat pack in a medium Priority Mail box with 1/2 inch insulation and newspaper stuffing to see how well it heats, and whether it gets too hot in the box. I will also add...

Shipping mantises with 120 hour heat packs

Actually, they are $2.80 each. It is $28 for 10 MaxxHeat packs and free shipping. So hardly costs anything. But you need insulation, too, I have been told.

Shipping mantises with 120 hour heat packs

I just found 120 hour heat packs online. Are those long lasting heat packs hotter and a danger when shipping in smaller or medium sized insulated boxes? https://www.uniheatpack.com/collections/uniheat-shipping-warmers/products/120-hour-uniheat-packs

    the species that saved me

That is very interesting stuff! I didn't know that galls were made from cancer in the plants. I have read that plants are able to have cancer and live with it because of their cell walls, which animals and fungi don't have. I wonder whether people could make large sweet galls in the future...

Two different Orchid mantis strains are not interfertile

Here is a post about the Malaysian strain of Orchid mantis being larger than the Indonesian Island strain. And that the two different strains are not interfertile. https://www.facebook.com/groups/482099469492731?multi_permalinks=1077193486649990&hoisted_section_header_type=recently_seen

    Mantises of New York

Cool! A mantis ootheca hatching during the winter from a Christmas tree would be exciting to children. But, unfortunately the people who have mantis oothecas hatch in their home probably wouldn't know how to feed the babies.
