How long can a green anole go without a UV light?

Near the window would help in that circumstance and they should be okay until you can get your uv set up. They aren't very big so are quite sensitive to changes in their environment so just watch out for too cold or too hot.

How long can a green anole go without a UV light?

As long as your other things (heat/water/humidity/food) are okay they should be alright for a bit. I would say anything longer than 2 weeks would be too long though. They do require general light to go about their day to day lives though, they are a primarily diurnal species which rely on sight...

    Success and Failure

Ouch, she's a mean one. I haven't yet bred hymenopus but when I paired up my sphrodomantis I gave the biggest prey item I could find straight to her forearms to keep her busy. Then another one 🍽 🦗 fortunately he had the good sense to hightail it to the other end of the cage as soon as he was...

    What to feed in winter?

Bramble is blackberry, same family so I don't any reason they wouldn't at least try them. I don't think the insides of the stems would work, I doubt they'd recognise it as edible and small nymphs would probably not be able to chew it. However rubus plants are tough, so you could try taking some...

    A special new arrival

Don't misunderstand, I wasn't criticising she's a beautiful animal. I've cared for many large and small snakes including retics and even breeding burms. I've heard ancedotal reports of nippy burms but in many, many years of working with snakes I've never seen one. I have however seen aggressive...

    What to feed in winter?

You said -20 outside so I'm guessing there isnt anything growing. Bramble (semi evergreen) if there's any about. Failing that I'd try and see if you could buy a potted eucalyptus, pyracantha or photinia maybe even a rose. They might accept evergreen oak if thats an option. Obviously if you get a...

    A special new arrival

You are quite right about how idiots die to large pythons, wrapping it around their neck.  I've told so many people over the years if you must handle large pythons/boas, don't wrap around you and especially not across shoulders or neck.  Constrictors could kill you without trying that way...

    AAA's Swarm

Nice to see some good pictures of these spectacular species. My personal favourite are your blue desert beetles. Have you been able to breed them?

    What to feed in winter?

No one can advise properly unless we know which species it is.

    A couple from the collection

This one probably belongs in the phasmid area but I thought I might tease my american friends and put it with the rest of my pictures. Peruphasma schultei, black beauty stick insect.  I received 13 nymphs the other day along with some Necrosia annulipes they are more delicate at this age so...

    A couple from the collection

A bit bittersweet on this one.  These are my two female acanthops erosula, the first is the one which mismolted, she eventually was able to catch her own food but wasn't keen on climbing as she didn't have complete tarsi on her front legs.  She is now end of life and spends her time threat...

    A couple from the collection

Some more pictures, they aren't the best but I was messing about with putting some of them on cymbium. Firstly 2 of my Pseudoxyops have moulted to adult, both females! I have 2 more that might be males so fingers crossed they hurry up. I attempted to try and get some shots of one of my...

    Some of my snakes

A couple of more pictures First is my male rosy boa, this is currently the oldest snake in my collection.  He came with me to university and had him for a couple of years prior to that so he is over 20 years old.  I found a female for him about 16 years ago and most years they breed.  Found...

    When is enough actually enough?

I have about 20 or so and am happy with that. There are one or two more species that I would get if they were available though. Although I was sorely tempted when I went in my local reptile shop the other day. Not mantids, but he had 2 phyllium giganteum for sale. If I had the space for a...
