    Angelofdeathzz - Nick

Nick was offering some mantis nymphs for just the cost of shipping. I just received a very well packaged parcel from Nick with several mantises that I had requested. He did a wonderful job of packing, was very quick at shipping it, and was quite communicative and pleasant to deal with. He...

    Brian Aschenbach-(US)

I ordered feeders from Brian Aschenbach ([email protected]) on June 6th. I paid for an order that he did not ship. He said he would ship them on June 8th. He did not. He said he would ship them on June 10th. He did not. He apologized and said he would ship them on June 15th. He did...

    Guapoalto049

guapoalto049 (Chris) just sent me a bunch of nymphs. It was a pleasure doing business with him: he was quick to return emails, packaged the nymphs perfectly with insulation and food, and best of all he mailed my package within 12 hours of when I had initially contacted him. Thanks Chris!

    Raising Maggots

I've had most of my flies pupae turn into full fledged flies because I held the container out at room temperature for too long, then I stuck the container with the flies back into the fridge for another 48 hours and the flies were still alive, albeit a bit groggy, and eaten by mantises two days...

    Sphodromantis sp. "Blue Flash" picture

This is a great picture of my Sphodromantis sp. "Blue Flash" taken by a friend of mine Liz Ehlinger with a Canon 40D camera with the Canon 100mm macro lens. ISO 500, f/3.5, 1/125 sec. -Mike If you want to use it, let me know and I can provide an original with better quality than the one here.

    loose fruit flies

Really the solution is to let loose an equivalent number of hungry mantises.

    Ooth Bound Mantis Solution

Is there any way to measure the quality of the ooth? I'd be interested to know whether the Ooth is of lower quality (less nymphs, less healthy nymphs, or no nymphs) when it is "forced out" using this starvation technique.

    Guarantees

On a related note, I think that the new clause that Frey added at the end of her for sale addresses the issues that have been discussed on this board.

    nymphs, subadults, or adults?

That makes it seem quite logical.

    nymphs, subadults, or adults?

Spontaneous dieoff in the early instars???

    nymphs, subadults, or adults?

I'd like to know whether people prefer to buy nymphs or adults. I tend to go for nymphs because it seems like they will have a longer time on this planet with me, and I get to watch them change as they grow up. With that said, it also appears that older organisms cost more- perhaps because they...

    Guarantees

I like this. However, the initial votes make it appear that there will be a relatively even spread of answers which doesn't make the issue any more clear in my mind because people can select multiple answers. Perhaps a simpler dichotomy would be better. For example, asking the question "would...

dont know what else to feed my mantid

I had my mantis, about the same size as yours, try to eat a beetle. Once it did make it through the beetle's hard exoskeleton, the second time it didn't and it put the beetle down. So I caught some mosquitoes and then turned on the house flood light at night and caught some moths. It loved those.

    Housing dif. species together

Patrick: Perhaps everyone could contribute one mantis, we could put them all in the same large tank and see whose mantis emerges the victor. (joking)

    Housing dif. species together

I've got about 5 mantises, all of different species, all of different ages, and all with their own small container. Feeding them has become tedious, so I was wondering what would happen if I threw a bunch of the medium sized ones together with plenty of food so they don't snack on each other...

    Eating after molting

I started this topic several weeks ago, and since then my female budwing mantis has eaten 3 times, once taking down a house fly, a blue bottle, and a moth. The temperature is fine, the food source is fine (she's an L4 and it's a house fly, that she has eaten before). However, it doesn't look...

    Few things about Me

As a representative of the people who have had no transactions with Mylo, Frey, or Phil, I would like to voice in. The way that this issue is handled is no longer anyone's private business because it is posted on a public message board, and what people see on this board affect how they view...

    Feeder Roaches vs Household roaches

Dear lord, the chirping has been just as bad as the smell for the crickets I got. I think this sounds like a pretty good plan! Thanks.
