They hatch in bursts, and ive had mantids hatch up to 3 weeks after the first batch. However, theres almost always a huge die off, just so you know. Have fun with them! They are awesome little guys! :)

well it depends on you're perspective of rare, becuase in terms of the culture here, Choeradodis would be pretty rare, but in the world, pretty much any mantis is rare when the species is only at the start, but all it usually takes is one successful generation and its established, so in that...

Chinese mantids not only have stripes running up and down on their face, but they also have wings where the bottom one is green ad the top may be a different green, or a brown. European mantids also have a dot/polka dot on the inside of their arms.

Mantids aren't vegetarians, you should be clear with that. You definitely need to get fruit flies form the store.

Nice! been looking into getting these, but my dad has terrible memories of these, and doesnt want them anywhere in the house. Im not complaining I dont want to keep it if it scares him/makes it uncomfortable, but ill prob get one when i have my own place. Nice pics btw ;)
