    Flies

Same, fortunately these flies were just hanging around on my wall and windows and I don't have anything nasty up here as far as I know :)

    Flies

Thanks Mantisgirl13! I'm glad to hear that since she really seems to enjoy them. And here I thought she eats waxworms ridiculously fast.

    Flies

Hi guys! quick question for you! Do you think it's okay to give a mantis wild flies? At least not very often? I know tons of people with reptiles, amphibians and arachnids suggest not using wild insects because you have no way of knowing what they get into and they could have been exposed to...

    Coming along well.

I'm so glad! That's great news! I guess tarantulas are just weird in how long it takes them to harden. I don't like having to wait to feed anything unless they naturally eat very little and infrequently. I'm going to give her something later now so she can restore all of that moisture, weight...

    Coming along well.

Awesome! I sure hope she turns out that way! They would look stunning on her!

    Coming along well.

Excellent! She certainly doesn't seem to notice or care about the problem at all so it definitely must be something minor.

All great news to hear! Thanks Little Mantis!

    Coming along well.

Hey guys! Great news. Lee, my Giant Asian mantis, has molted for the first time under my care since I got her and joined the forum two weeks ago. She had actually just molted when I first got her. I had a hunch she would molt again since she showed only minor interest in a cricket the other...

    New lizard!

Hiya guys! I only just joined the forum with my new giant Asian mantis, Lee and it seems I've been on a lucky roll this month for finding animals I've wanted. I just got an email two days ago that eastern collared lizards were back in stock and that is a species I've been trying to get my hands...

    Plants and humidity

That is a genius solution! I'm going to put a huge hunk of moss in the bottom for her tomorrow!

    Terrarium vertebrates

Thanks! Garter snakes really do love to swim and bathe! I always see them by riverbanks in the wild! He also likes to drape himself over his temperature gauge for some reason :)

    Tarantulas

Thanks! I love all of the black and orange brachypelma species :)!

    Setting up a feeding routine

Excellent! Thanks Predatorhousepet! I actually did give her a heavy meal today of a small cricket which she absolutely devoured and I actually saw her abdomen throbbing and getting bigger as she ate. It was actually pretty awesome!

    Plants and humidity

That sounds good! I'll only mist lightly for now and I never even thought about putting some moss in there. I think sheds really appreciate that and I'll just get a small fake plant to stick on the bottom. Also good to know about the boxwood! I went ahead and took that out right away...

    Terrarium vertebrates

Hi guys! I just posted in the arachnid section where I talked about my two tarantulas. I wish I could include them all here but those two and my new mantis of course aren't vertebrates. I have a dog, a couple hamsters and a betta but my real passion (other than the dog) is my terrarium...

    Tarantulas

Hi guys! As I'm new here I figured I would share with you some other members of my terrarium collection. The ones that belong in this category are my two tarantulas. The older one (top picture) is a Mexican fire-leg or Brachypelma Boehmei who's name is October because he's black and orange and...

    Plants and humidity

Hey guys! Many of you saw my other two posts. I have my first mantis now, a giant Asian mantis or specifically Hierodula Membranacea, and I just want to make sure I'm doing the best I can for her. She's still very tiny at I would estimate just under two inches and living in the plastic container...

    Setting up a feeding routine

That's what I figured and was pretty much planning to do. She still has quite a bit of growing to do before she becomes an absolute monster so I want to give her more food but not too much at once for her small body. How can one tell when the abdomen is too flat or fat enough? A lot of younger...

    Setting up a feeding routine

Thanks! Little Mantis! Also good to know!

    Setting up a feeding routine

Also a good idea! I'll just keep an eye on her abdomen.
