    Carolina mantis eggbound?

@CosbyArt I am scared that my female iris oratoria is egg bound, she last laid about three weeks ago and has a large cage with bark and branches. And plenty of room as she is in a large critter keeper and gets fed quite a bit. I am just so worried

    Cross breeding?

Roaches and isopods are two that come to mind and I know you can find different color morphs in some cultures and breed those and youcan end up with a ton of the color morph,  like I am working on getting my albiono orange P. Laevis to get to good nuber so I can isolate that morph in a separate...

    Clever Mantis Names

I don't normally name my mantids (I should) but my female iris is named honeysuckle :) for some reason i really like that name for her. I also had a unicorn mantis that was named Fredrick or Fred for short, but a friend came up with that name.

Yay! Finally the time has come to collect unicorn mantids

I am not giving up. Last year I found ten, I hope to find at least a few more.  I might check back again at my close collecting spot I find them at, then in about a month I am spending a few days in another spot. And then check another spot also. it's going to be difficult but I will not give...

Can I use sticks from outside?

I have used sticks that haven't been cleaned before but they were in the hot sun for awhile but like i said it's best to make sure that you aren't going to bring any pest so it's best to bake or boil them

    Cilnia humeralis

    Cilnia humeralis

I love the look of them, but if you are looking for aggressive speices similar I would try gaint African mantids or iris. My iris female will sometimes kill a meal worm or her meal just to take a few bites and make sure it's dead. I do live the little saddle wings in this speices

    Too many mantis nymphs...

If you do ship I suggest using a insulated shipping box with a few heat packs. And I would take a few off you hands :) (I am in Arizona)

    New Mantis Keeper!

Welcome, I have used sticks from outside but I suggest boiling them so they don't bring anything like small bugs or stuff like that. A mantis molts about seven times in its life and you can tell if it's going to molt if they don't ecept food or if later if there close to adult sometimes if they...
