Usually when I feed my mantises feeders that could potentially hurt it (i.e. roaches, bees, crickets) I either feed them already killed or monitor them when I give it to them live. Crickets are known to attempt to attack mantises during molting, so they need to be handled with caution when feeding.

The spiny does seem to be subadult.

Even public events like the Reptile Super Show have mantises for sale and nothing is done about it. The local pet stores in California are starting to sell them too.

I once had a ghost that would completely change colors between molts. It went between green, gold/yellow, and then brown. It ended up staying in a gold/yellow color as an adult.

Is feeding mantises painted lady butterflies that are raised off of the food-stuff they come with safe to feed to mantises? Are Black Soldier Fly larvae safe to feed too?
