  1. B

    Gonatista grisea

One of my 3rd instar nymphs
  2. B

    Euthyrhynchus floridanus

Update on this species : I almost lost my entire colony from weird disease that made the nymphs drop dead within a day. Fortunately 8 or so nymphs survived through the tragedy and two of them managed to molt to adult (luckily they turned out to be a pair). Hopefully more nymphs will mature soon.
  3. B

    Acontista multicolor

I now have two adult pairs :) Here's one of my females

    Alan's roach thread

Didn't realize there was a comment.  Thanks :)  So far the females are doing ok but I've been seeing males drop like flies lately. Hopefully they did their job before they perished
  5. B

    Acontista multicolor

    Finally! Adult female emerged :)

    Alan's roach thread

I've lost my entire colony by a weird fungal disease so I had to get a new batch about a month ago. I'm hoping to see babies from this batch.
  7. B

    Acontista multicolor

One of my (presumably) presub female
  8. B

    Acontista multicolor

Thank you :) These are the smallest species of mantid I've owned so far
  9. B

    Acontista multicolor

First specimen to mature for me. 9 more nymphs to go
  10. B

    Gonatista grisea

Little update on these guys. I sent a bunch of them to my friend for trade, and sold around 40 nymphs to another person. Kept 15 nymphs from first batch for myself, which has turned into L2 now. Also had another ootheca hatch so I have somewhere around 20 first instars.
  11. B

    Euthyrhynchus floridanus

You should definitely try rearing some of the native assassin bugs! If you are lucky you might be able to run across Rhynocoris species :)
  12. B

    Euthyrhynchus floridanus

4th instar...these guys are growing really fast
  13. B

    Communal

I've been keeping my 8 Heterochaeta orientalis since I got them. Same with Pseudovates arizonae. So far I've not experienced any cannibalism from any of the two species.
  14. B

    Acontista multicolor

Thank you :) I might sell a pair or two once they mature ;)
  15. B

    Stiretrus anchorago

I was thinking the same when I saw the 5th instar. lol
  16. B

    Euthyrhynchus floridanus

Oh ya. They are like silent killers. They'll approach their prey and stick their proboscis into their victims and slowly paralyze the prey and suck the juice out. lol I'm breeding them as part of a hobby
  17. B

    Pseudovates arizonae

Sorry to hear. Was the male not responsive to females?
  18. B

    Stiretrus anchorago

Thank you :) Hopefully they'll still be present in the field where I found them last year
  19. B

    Euthyrhynchus floridanus

Thank you :) Will be posting 3rd instar pics soon :)
