my twig mantis (3 legged) has been on the low low recently. it has been on the bottom of the enclosure laying to the side. i tried to move it with a stick only to find it dragging its abdomen and its grip weakening. anyone know whats happening? maybe she ate something wrong?  cause her abdomen...

Yep, I think I understand now. Couples can be mated again and again to increase fertility. yes I know that. what I'm asking is, when should I mate them again, AFTER she lays an ootheca. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Same!!! I have many questions that are really similar to yours. Ive been wondering if I could just mate (general) mantids several times, instead of once. The result, I'm thinking, would be a more chance of it being fertile, and a bigger sized ooth! I also want to know when I should re-mate them...

Cool!! I heard that you should lightly mist your nymphs after being hatched out to increase the numbers of them being alive. They need to be able to dry after all they've been through. And I'd add a few fruit flies in the second day, but third is better! I'm not sure, but I hope this helps...

this is so nice!! what a great setup this is!! im as jealous as the ghost mantis staring XD i somewhat have a lamp i use for heating, (but will plan on using heat mats) and as i would want them to be hotter, id move them closer. now for the many many questions: should i buy heat lamps instead...

Just bought this cheesecloth that is 100% bleached and also cotton. (From eBay LOL) Is that safe to use as mesh for my mantids so they could have a greater chance of not mismolting? Also I know that banana can be used as a one time supplement, not for daily use of food, but is it safe to use to...

im sorry to hear this :-( thanks for the advice (-: i am no longer going to buy any orchid ooths now and in the future. as i dont want to risk not having a fertile ooth. i didnt know the chances of getting one is really low 0: 

thanks for everything! i think its safe to say that i will no longer buy the ooth he says that its fertile and even dares me to post on FB asking if his ooths are... that is so weird though -orchid ooths are a gamble when it comes to fertility. i always thought, "oh if they mated, then it will...
