    Will my babiez be infested??

Why not just toss the cup in the freezer and discard the contents once they are all dead?

    Raffia?

I've never heard of it being used, but as long as it holds together when wet and provides surface area for the flies I don't see why not. I have used folded coffee filters and squares of corrugated cardboard in the past.

    Pet Names

Only mammals get names in my house, have had too many critters over the years to even think about naming them.

Congrats and good luck with them.

    Ghost Problem

Boiling will drive off dissolved gases such as chlorine, but it will also serve to concentrate dissolved minerals and other solids.

    Mealworms?

You won't get far in a hobby like this one if you cut yourself off from the resources available online.

    Mealworms?

I would go for the biggest, most populated cultures you can find and use them to start as many new ones as possible.

    Mealworms?

Fruit flies are not expensive at all if you maintain your own cultures. If you plan on raising 3 oothecae worth of Chinese you need to get your cultures started ASAP, yesterday would be good. ;)

    Vivarium upgrade

Standard imis shouldn't run more than $25 or so. Proven pairs may cost more, but you are missing out on good experience by buying pairs over juvies.

    Vivarium upgrade

It's a good start, but you'll want more bromeliads on the walls for thumbnails. Look into Neoregelia species and hybrids.

    Bedding?

CalWest is the place to go for sphagnum moss, much cheaper than the tiny boxes from herp suppliers. http://www.calwesttropical.com/index.php/categories/sphagnum-moss

I used gorilla glue for most of them.

    Custom Vivaria

It was far cheaper than buying a room full of Exos would have been, and allowed for better use of space and tweaking the designs to fit what each species needed. We would have more than made our money back selling vivs from that first case of glass if my partners hadn't tried to take it all for...

Since Mike brought it up in my intro thread I thought I would post up some pics of my old setup. Big truck 'o glass: Chop it into little bits: Stick some tape on it: Door tracks and more tape: Profit!
