For clarification, yellow orchid mantises (Parymenopus davisoni) is actually a different species from the usual orchid mantis (Hymenopus coronatus).

My boxer mantises have no issue eating bits of superworms. You possibly had a bad batch even if it didn’t seem like it.

I know Metallyticus sp. are kept communally but that’s not really a mantis many have access to.

It’s probably like that due to issues when removing it from the skin/when it was drying during the molt. As long as he can move and eat fine it won’t really matter.
