    breeding feeder insects

    all i do is put mashed banana in the fruit fly's container and thats all, eggs are laid normally and the maggots prevent molding. all i smell in the container is yeast for some reason. and i also feed my crickets peice of banana they love it! Joe

    I'm just wondering if desiccata and lobata would succesfuly produce offspring. has any one tried it? i'm planning on tying it since they r both deroplatys and both the spiny flower mantis and indian flower mantis made offspring, gave me the idea to try. let me know what u all think :D Joe

    I sexed mine at their 1st molt, the way u can tell male and female is looking at their sixth segment, males have one of those flower lobes while females just have a bare 6th segment, or lump if very young. Joe

    haha yea they can be aggresive if raised that way by either eating big bugs, or being fed on a big appetite. mine was just fed big bugs, heres a pic of my L2 PW eating a butteryfly, it put up a good fight :lol: the butterfly was knocking the mantis around but the mantis still kept ahold of it...
